Coaching

Please consider coaching your player’s team.  Our rec league relies on parent volunteers in order to be successful. Last spring we had 64 teams and a record number of players.   Remember, you are not coaching players for the World Cup. The goal for Rec Soccer is for kids to have fun and learn about the game.  There will be a new coaches meeting prior to the 1st game. There are also additional resources linked on the Geneseo Soccer Club site under the “Rec Soccer” tab and “Coaching Tips & Practice Plans”.  

At the end of the season, the head coach for each team will be reimbursed their child’s fee. A check will be mailed to the address listed for your child. 

If a team does not have a coach when teams are formed and no one steps up to volunteer, a parent of one of the players on the team will be assigned as head coach. This could possibly result in a delay in team formation and notification.

Your child’s registration is not complete until payment is made.  The easiest way is to make payments and ensure registration is complete is to pay online.  Should you need to mail a check, please send it to the PO Box below.

Divisions & Age Requirements

U6 DIVISION (U5-U6)

Ages allowed: Children born in 2018 or 2017

Practices: One practice per week.

Game Day: 4v4 (No goalies)

Parent Requirements: 

• U5/U6 players MAY NOT be "dropped off" for practice. All players in this division must have a parent or guardian present with them at all times!  There are no exceptions! 

• The U5/U6 division requires hands-on involvement from both parents and coaches during practices and games. Please plan to be actively involved during both.

U8 DIVISION

Ages allowed: Children born in 2016 or 2015

Practices: One practice per week.

Game Day: 4v4  (No goalies)

U10 DIVISION

Ages allowed: Children born in 2014 or 2013

Practices: Each U10 Head Coach schedules and plans 1-2 practices per week

Game Day: 7v7 with goalies.

U12 DIVISION (Typically Co-ed)

Ages allowed: Children born in 2012 or 2011

Practices: Each U12 Head Coach schedules and plans two practices per week

Game Day: 9v9 with goalies.

U15 DIVISION (Middle School) Co-Ed

Ages allowed: Children born in 2010, 2009, or 2008

Practices: Each U15 Head Coach schedules and plans two practices per week

Game Day: 11v11 games with goalies (Lower registration numbers may require us to adjust to smaller game sizes.)
